AEOS (Active Energised Organic Skincare) is a multi-award winning British beauty brand that has transformed the face of skin care regimes with its all-natural and biodynamic “3-Phase System”. The brand’s philosophy is “to achieve your most beautiful complexion yet [one must] first care for the soil, feed the skin and nourish the soul”. AEOS makes its pure formulas by growing most of the ingredients at its biodynamic Shire Farm in Lincolnshire. Biodynamic farming is an alternative to organic farming. Both exclude synthetic chemicals (such as fertilisers and pesticides), but biodynamic farming takes an approach that incorporates ideas about agriculture as an entire ecosystem, taking into account things such as astrological influences and lunar cycles. From plant extracts and essential oils, to enzymes and vitamins, all ingredients used by AEOS are sourced from deeply nourished soil. Any other ingredients used in their products are sourced globally from organic and biodynamic farms that cultivate in line with their principles.
AEOS use sustainble and ethical methods throughout their biodynamic farming practices: planting trees, reducing packaging, and using solar power. This brand’s products are nearly fully vegan with the exception of its “Dew” facial wash which contains organic honey. AEOS products don’t use any raw materials or ingredients that have been tested on animals. To ensure that the actives (the substances that directly effect changes in your skin) in their formulations are free to work in natural synergy, any preservatives this brand uses is also 100% natural.
AEOS has been awarded the Positive Luxury “Butterfly Mark”, a mark that helps consumers identify brands that take on social and environmental commitments. By clicking on the “Butterfly Mark” on the AEOS website you can see a list of positive actions they take towards making a better and greener world.
3-Phase System
This brand’s 3-Phase System transforms the way in which the skin looks, giving one a glowing and more healthy-looking complexion. This is done through emulating the skins natural function through the use of actives. In order to achieve best results, AEOS recommends to never combine their formulations with other products that may include synthetic chemicals, as they can work against the active ingredients in the products. They also recommend to use products sparingly, using only one or two drops, as the ingredients are highly concentrated.
PHASE 1 – RENEW
This phase includes the use of cleansers, removing both make up and impurities, which leave the skin clean and receptive to the ingredients absorbed in the next two phases.
For the first phase you need to start with damp skin, apply the cleanser, and then the exfoliant.
Gentle Cleansing Lotion (Blue): The cleanser smells lovely and fresh! It is a very light formula and includes a higher concentration of calming camomile (no wonder I love the smell). After applying this product to my face and washing it off I found that my skin felt much softer compared to other cleansers I have used in the past which leave my skin feeling completely dry. I would recommend this product to people with normal skin type, unless used in conjunction with the exfoliant.
Gentle Exfoliant (Blue): The exfoliant is pure magic and I recommend to use it in conjunction with the the Blue Gentle Cleansing Lotion for optimal results. This product is made up of natural exfoliating beads and, nut and plant oils, which encourage correct hydration during exfoliation. It also includes a higher formulation of camomile to calm the skin and the mind. Using this exfoliant in conjunction with the Gentle Cleansing Lotion left my skin feeling soft and smooth!
Cleansing Oil Dé-Maq: This oil-based cleanser is made up of a blend of organic and biodynamic essential oils including: spelt oil, jojoba oil, grape seed oil, sesame seed oil, avocado oil, and Vitamin E. The combination of oils works beautifully to soften the skin without leaving your face feeling too clogged up or oily. I would highly recommend this product to people who suffer from dry and dehydrated skin. This product does not necessarily have to be used with the Gentle Exfoliant to achieve smoothness.
PHASE 2 – REBALANCE
This phase includes the use of two award winning hydration formulas to keep skin feeling fresh and moisturised.
In order to re-balance your skin after cleansing, you first use the Energising Conditioner and then the Hydrating Mist.
Energising Conditioner: This product was by far my favourite, it smells absolutely heavenly – the sweet scent took me to rose gardens on warm summer days! This product is meant to assist your skin in getting back to its natural balance of oils without feeling too oily. It is made up of various plants, oils, and crystal essences to encourage hydration and deeply penetrating moisture. This product soaked into my skin quite quickly and in conjunction with phase one left my skin feeling slightly softer, healthier, and over time took some redness away from my face.
Refreshing Hydrating Mist: I love using face mists prior to putting on face cream – it gives your skin that little kick of extra softness and freshness! (My usual skin care regime consists of: cleanser, mist, and face cream). This product is used after the energising conditioner to give your face a moisturising lift. It is the little secret to having hydrated skin all day long. Just keep it in your bag to spritz and hydrate on the go!
PHASE 3 – REPLENISH
In the final phase of this regime you first apply AEOS’s award-winning Realive Serum (right after completing phase two), followed by the Enriching Moisturise. These products are meant to quench skin with hydration, boost its regeneration as you soften, and diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Realive Serum: This award-winning serum felt great and up-lifting on the skin! It contains all the usual organic and dynamic oils and plant extracts, but it also contains naturally derived hyaluronic acid that encourages the smoothing of fine lines and wrinkles. Serums are products that are usually forgotten in everyday skin care regimes. When I go to the shop to buy face products I usually only buy products with which I am familiar, such as face creams or face mists (unless I fall for the sales rep trap of buying lots of different “necessary” products ). After using this product for a few days I know for a fact that it will become a part of my usual skin care regime. It is a product that can be used all over the face or just around the eyes to smooth and revitalise that delicate area. As someone in her late 20s, I feel that this is a good time to start investing in products that will affect my skin positively in the long run.
Enriching Moisturiser (Blue): This moisturiser seals together all the products that have been used in this 3-Phase System, locking in all that moisturising goodness! This product is recommend for dry, fatigued or environmentally-sensitised skin. It is light, non-greasy, and fast-absorbing. My skin felt incredibly soft after putting this on, something I have only previously experienced while having professional facials. This softness comes from the skin’s moisture levels already being balancing at this point from the previous steps in the 3-Phase System.
The “Renew, Rebalance, Reshape’ routine is absolutely magical! In general, I don’t really have the patience for skin care regimes and often find them complicated and time-consuming. This routine also does take some time, but if you want to take care of your skin you need to put in some effort and time (at least most of us do!). I found this routine really to be worth it. I felt like I had just come out from a facial treatment at spa, a result never achieved from trying other routines previously.
I don’t have flawlessly smooth skin and the transition between winter and spring especially takes a very heavy toll. As soon as the flowers are in full bloom my skin becomes extremely dry and flaky from allergies. I have tried different skin products and skin care regimes in combination with allergy medicine before, but not much seems to work until summer finally comes around. After having used these products even for a few days I have noticed that my skin has increasingly become softer, clearer, more vibrant, and some of the redness has gone.
This AEOS 3-Phase regime has been designed to be used all together to complete the System to its full potential. The complete set costs around £400, and although at the upper end of skin-care regime prices, if used sparingly (as instructed by AEOS), these 6 products in the 3-Phase regime will last several months. AEOS recommends to use the System for at least two months to see the results of the natural active ingredients to their full potential. Personally, I saw small changes to my skin from the first day, so I am pretty excited to see what my skin will look like two months from now!
If you don’t want to purchase the complete set, the three products which I most highly recommend include: the Energising Conditioner (£54.99) in combination with the Hydrating Mist (54.99), and the wonderful Realive Serum (£105). If you are less interested in facial skin care and are looking for something else, this brand also has many other different products for body care, nail care, and nutrition!
